Whilst Star Ocean had the weakest story out of the aforementioned titles, I put in many hours and spent many weeks trying to obtain the prized 1k Gamerscore – an achievement I never obtained! As soon as I heard that Square Enix was remastering the title for PC and PS4 owners, I knew I had to get my hands on it to see if it was as good as I remember or if it is just another fish in the (Star)Ocean. The first few JRPGs I played were Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, The Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery and Star Ocean: The Last Hope.

Before my Xbox, I was purely a Nintendo fan yet I had only dabbled in games such as the Tales series a few times. I never owned a Playstation until I bought my PS4 so I didn’t play games like Final Fantasy until XIII came to the Xbox. Multipliers are in this order: 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3.I have many fond memories of the Xbox 360 era it was the first time I played a Dynasty Warriors game, the first time I ever played online, and surprisingly the first time I had played a JRPG and really become emotionally attached and excited to find out what happened next. It's used by default with my x1 multiplier. 1 (not the numpad): parallax occlusion mapping stereoization strength. The game will behave as if you were using downsampling, but overlays like RTSS will you your desktop resolution. Useful if you want to play at 4K without using DSR. Keep in mind that this doesn't make what is in the area of the effect render at higher resolution than it does. The effect appears in cutscenes even if you disable the effect ingame, so that's why I made the hotkey. Not enabled by default in theory, but the default autoconvergence preset enables it in gameplay all the time. F5: convergence dependant and layered HUD toggle. F4: bloom presets, ranging from x0 to x1. F2: HUD depth presets (when not in dynamic mode). If you want to disable that, open "d3dx.ini" and comment or delete the "Preset = Gameplay" line. Not very useful with the autoconvergence preset that is enabled by default. Launch the game and let it overwrite the profile.

Download this file and extract its contents in the "STAR OCEAN - THE LAST HOPE - 4K & Full HD Remaster" folder, where "StarOceanTheLastHope.exe" is. There are some rare wave haloing problems in some boss battle effects or some spells. Autoconvergence that switches between two convergence presets depending on if you are in a cutscene or gameplay.

This makes textures that use the effect look like more detailed 3D geometry. Stereoized parallax occlusion mapping effect (with customizable strength). The HUD is now convergence dependant and layered in a way that makes it look better (check the screenshots of this post). HUD being too convergence dependant at 19 px wide resolutions. Tested at multiple resolutions with all shadows settings. But that broke some shadows shaders, so I fixed them. The profile flag the fix uses makes the game stereoize effects that were 2D before (some bloom, depth of field.). It includes graphics options and an autoconvergence preset that is enabled by default.
